About Us

Viva Recreation was incorporated in 2004 by Steve and Madeleine Walding, and Art Smythe. The directors had over ten years experience in the playground industry prior to the incorporation, and formed Viva Recreation to provide clients with a complete playground design and construction service. Madeleine had worked as a landscape architect in Australia and England before specialising in work in children’s playgrounds with Viva Recreation. Steve brings a wealth of practical knowledge of children’s play and playground construction to our clients. Art has worked as a play consultant for over 20 years in playgrounds in both the USA and Australia. Peter Desmond joined the team as a play consultant in 2004.

Viva Recreation employs a full time team of play consultants, technicians and experienced tradesmen and offer clients a full playground design and construction service. We work with state and local governments, landscape architects and designers, architects, school principals, P & C associations, child care centre directors, landscape contractors, developers, builders, shopping centres and private clients. We have completed a multitude of projects that are destination locations for whole communities.

Australia has some of the best playgrounds in the world and Viva Recreation is proud to have been involved in the provision of many of these playgrounds. We are passionate about what we do, and take great pride in helping to provide playgrounds where children love to play.
